EBC have been carrying out civil and structural designs at grid, primary and secondary substation sites since 2013. We design switchrooms and other buildings, foundations, pits, cable-basements, bunds, compounds, access roads/tracks and drainage, at new and existing sites. We have detailed large GIS buildings at 132kV sites.
The core of our work is the design of new primary (33kV/11kV) substation sites. We inspect existing substation sites and carry out structural defect surveys and investigations, including subsidence investigations, and we design repairs and alterations.
The majority of this work is carried out in the northwest of the UK, largely on sites operated by Scottish Power Energy Networks (or constructed to their standards), but also on others. EBC generally work through approved contractors who have term contracts with electricity distribution companies (regional DNO’s and IDNO’s).
