Cannon Belle is a new-build 6-bedroom luxury residence on the banks of Windermere, near Bowness in the Lake District. The architect’s brief for the house demanded large open-plan areas at ground and first floor levels, with exposed concrete internal surfaces, and fully glazed walls facing the lake. The house was split down into separate elements to break down the mass. EBC Ltd designed individual in-situ reinforced concrete flat-slab ‘podium’ structures at ground floor level, with hybrid steel-and-timber portal-steel structures above first floor level.
